But celebrating this day - hopefully with me recovered from my cough (I will only be able to tell when I leave home and head to work and see how well I am when I am not spending my day in bed) - here is a little piece of music I need to share.

The lyrics are hitting a very thin-skinned part of my heart - but that part is very well healing. And the song is beautifully performed. And in a fascinating way.

Florence and the Machine is one of the bands/musicians I stumbled upon somewhen in the last year - and their album Lungs is still and firmly rooted on my iPod. I still can listen to it without end.

And now there is a second album out: Ceremonials.
And it lives up to the expectations. Sooo very much.

Do you know the feeling when somewhere inside you, in your middle there is something feeling like bursting out?

I do love Tori Amos' new album - but I can't listen to it just now since it makes me tear up because I listened to it while reading Jim C. Hines finale book to his Princess series.

And yet, Florence and the Machine hits my music center much more, much harder and deeper. Gosh, thanks for this music!

Thanks to Kickstarter! Aah, crowdsourcing, what a wonderful and terrible invention. Wonderful because it brings us stuff we want and might otherwise not be produced due to lack of funding. And terrible because it makes me want to back so many projects...

Anyway, Season 2 is a done deal. But it is still open for a while and if they reach up to $200.000 a third season is to be done as well.

I might have mentioned before that I love going to the Kaltenberger Ritterturnier.

Yeah, I know, it's for the masses. It's not cute and small and only for people in the know. But I like it. I enjoy it.

And especially the Gauklernacht. On a Thursday night - and only one, the tournament is running for three weekends - the knights and the battles and stunts are not the things to entertain the guests. It's only about the bards, the entertainers and jesters.

This year once again I went there with my mom and some of my friends and we had a very nice night. My mom drove us home around 2am . . .

Among those entertainers I absolutely had to catch one group: Compagnie Entr'act

They are great! And absolutely worth it.

Some years ago I stumbled over The Gamers by Dead Gentlemen Productions and couldn't believe it.
A comedy about a role-playing group which made fun of almost typical thing that a role-player lives through over the years. Great.

I got the DVD and later I also got The Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising. Which is actually even better, funnier and really works as a feature film.

Now those guys and girls bring us a web-comedy fantasy series: JourneyQuest.
The first season is out on DVD but can be watched online for free. Either at their website or via youtube.

And then go get the DVD or give them some money so we can see a second season!

While I am impatiently waiting for the release of some TV shows on DVD (Good Wife 2nd Season, Fringe 3rd Season, Supernatural 6th Season, Nikita 1st Season) there is a lot of new stuff of which I saw some glimpses on the horizon.

So, for those who are Fans of Torchwood:

We don't have to wait long for that. :o)

Then there is Charlie's Angels - it might not be good. But it's Charlie's Angels - so it needs to be checked out at least!

Then there is this hole that was left when Lost aired for the final time. So what are those people up to?
JJ Abram has Alcatraz waiting for us. Although, I do have to say, I am not that intrigued yet.

But - Horrowitz and Lindelof have this: Once upon a Time.

And fairy tales seem to be the new vampires: another fairy tales inspired new show - Grimm

And sinse Grimm is by the producers of Buffy and Angel we can now go on to Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show: Ringer

I am pretty certain that that is not all. But it's all I found for today.

No, I did not turn into a zombie. Even though I have been kind of absent this long. (Blogging trailers is not a lot of work or creative output, now is it?)

And what did I do in those weeks - or months? Well, lots. And little. But I did watch the first 10 episodes of Glee's second season on DVD. And I loved it. I also could not stop myself from watching the 11th episodes - Zombies at the Football Championship Game Night.

Well, okay, that is not the title. But watching it prompted me to post about Glee.

For a while I was not able to really watch it. I was not in the mood. Glee's first season and its music was something that brightened my mood last year. It made me kinda giggly. And for some reason the last few month that was not what I wanted.
Suddenly now I found myself to be in the right mood.

I also wonder about all the negative comments about the second season. About character assassination. And stupid moves of plot and development.
I really have to wonder because I could not really find fault with any of it. Glee is really demanding a lot of suspense of disbelief and yet being a bit over the top it still manages to be funny, tragic, artistic and simply: good.

I love Bieste, the new coach. I still like Emma, even though Will seems to have a bit of a midlife crisis. I think his ex-wife is even better now than before their divorce. And I also still like Rachel. And Finn. And I thought Sam an Quinn were cute. And I even think Brittany and Artie work. That's a big one since my new favourite is Santana.

Anything else to add? Nothing apart from: please watch. It's worth the time.
Oh, and I loved the fact that they decided to spotlight other singers at the Regionals. Great.

Now I have ot await the next DVD set. Or not. ;o)

For five days now I had neither sweets, Red Bull or any appointments after work/with friends.

How am I holding up? Rather fine, thanks for asking.

Anyways, the poll has closed a few days ago too. And even though I can tell who those four voters are mainly by their votes, the result is obvious: I've got to watch Mad Men.

Well, I did watch the first four episodes a while back. So today I went on to watch the fifth. Then the sixth and the seventh. Maybe I will be watching the next one later tonight.

And what's my verdict? Still not finally in.

Long time, no read

You still out there?
I am still here, on this side of keyboard and screen. But I was busy and my words were used up every day before I could use them here to blog.

Now the Lenten season is upon us and though I am not religious I did for the last three years take the time and stayed abstinent of things like sweets, Red Bull and eBay - yeah, sounds strange but is quite an interesting thing to do.

This time though I expanded the things banned from my days. I decided to fast on appointments. Really I would like to fast on work, but that's hardly possible.
Last December it hit me once again that my new calender filled up too quickly. I already had dates for January. And I realized that I needed a break.

And that's what I am doing now. I will not go into social solitude. But I told all my friends that I was not going to do role-playing, not going out during the week and only my insatiable curiousity made me stop short of also cancelling any visit to the movie theatre.
Well, birthdays will be another exception. Especially my own.

But in general it looks like after work I will go home instead of meeting friends. And maybe I will calm down a bit. I only hope that I will not miss my friends too much. But there is e-Mail and telephone and the occasional movie.

And then we will see what happens.
I do hope to read more. I hope to watch some more of my dvds. I hope to relax enough at home so that I still can do stuff in my apartement after coming home instead of kind of falling into bed right away.

Yeah, we will see. Maybe even more blogging again.

Five weeks more or less to the Fantasy Filmfest 2010. And this year I have a season ticket again!

So, here are the movies that have been announced so far. Timetable and details will soon follow. I am getting a bit excited. :o)

I was at the movies yesterday. I watched Karate Kid and Eclipse.

And you might not believe it but I actually would say Karate Kid was better.

It might better be called Kung Fu Kid but whatever. I liked the original movie and I just had to watch the remake.
There was a wonderful nod to the original one: Jackie Chan eating noodles with his sticks. A fly buzzing around his head. He waits with his sticks as if to catch it. And just about when you think he will he swats it with a fly flap . . . Anyone not knowing what the sticks and fly-catching meant in the original needs to go and watch it right now. Seriously.
Karate Kid might not be the best movie. It certainly isn't a great work of art. But it's funny, heart-warming and nice to watch.
Well, both versions.

Eclipse meanwhile wasn't as bad as New Moon. But . . . I don't know . . . *sigh* . . . I can only guess at what's in the books and what people (especially girls) find so great about it. About the epic love story.
But it's not the epic kind for me.
It's not at all heart-breaking. Not making me feel for anyone - apart from Jakob but that might be because his shirtless body keeps distracting me. Seriously, two quotes from the movie that I can't say enough how true those are:
Edward: "Doesn't he own a shirt?"
And later, Jakob: "Let's face it: I am hotter than you."

What about TV?
Oh, lots of new shows. And The Gates are cool. Thanks to Rhona. ;o)

Apart from that I seriously have to ask my friends - no, beg them! - to watch Skins.
I am about to watch the final of series 2, which is also the last episode of the first generation. And it's been quite a ride.
I need to talk about it. I need to make people watch it!

In some cases I am really undecided.

But I do hope Lost gets Best Drama and Matthew Fox gets Best Actor in Drama series!

On the other hand I am undecided between Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn in Best Supporting Actor. For Best Supporting Actress . . . ah well, either Christine Baranski or Archie Panjabi, doesn't matter as long as The Good Wife wins some Emmy Awards.

I love Glee but I am undecided about the Comedy nominations.

It's out today: Jim Hines' third Princess novel Red Hood's Revenge.
I had a countdown to this day. And then amazon.de did something amazing (ha!): the book arrived here today.

I could/would like to read it right now. Problem is that I am in the middle of Stieg Larsson's Verblendung (English title: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). And even though I have some issues with the book I find the mystery utterly compelling and can't stop reading.

Apart from that my Grey's Anatomy season 5 DVD set arrived.

What has not yet arrived is my Skins DVD boxed set - and that is killing me. Aaaaaaargh! I have informed play.com already but they haven't reacted yet. What's up with that? :o( I want my Skins DVD! Please! Pretty please?!

Other stuff? Nope. At least not today.

I finally got around to watch all the episodes of Lost's final season that are so far available (a tip for German viewer: iTunes). And I am excited, stunned, nervous and impatient.

I also currently watch Avatar - not the movie, the anime. And it's fantastic.

Therefore a trailer for the movie based on the series. Hopefully M. Night Shyalaman will do a better job of this than most people expect him.

At least let it be better than The Happening - a movie I got on DVD now just because it starts out really good and is a nice theme and mood inspiration for the RPG Summerland. (You can find out why here - but only in German.)

What else? Didn't watch the Oscars live. But the last half hour which was the most important: Sandra Bullock and Kathryn Bigelow. Yeah! Okay, I missed Christoph Waltz.

Dammit, so many movies and so little time. I am absolutely behind scedule. Well, at least I got my season ticket for the Fantasy Filmfest this year. Also, the Fantasy Filmfest Nights are on this weekend. I am not yet sure if, what and/or how I will watch some of the movies. Linkylink.

Here I am. Yes, still alive. Yes, still sleepy. But back for now.

And more importantly: still not liking Valentine's Day.
Reason: no, not because I am single. It's because of my work. We had a project that had to do with Valentine . . . *sigh*

Anyway, is it hippocricical if I still want to see the movie Valentine's Day? Mmh...
I was going to last night but my health told me not to. So I stayed home. Maybe a sign? Don't care, will still try to catch the movie.

I might be cynical in some regards but I am still a sucker for romantic comedies.

What's up apart from that? Always the same: movies, books and tv shows. And guess what: all of that is still mighty entertaining, funny and time-filling.

But Better off Ted just totally hits my comedy center. And sadly everything looks like it will get cancelled after the second season.

Now, here it comes...

Some people indeed wanted to know what I think about James Cameron's newest movie.

The story is not surprising at any point. But it is well done. Things are introduced in the beginning and later they become an important part. The story – and characters – are engaging.
Nothing new here – and people say it is like Pocahontas in Space. Or at least that the Na'vi are Native Americans and since there is no place on Earth left to tell this story they simply put it on another planet.
Well, yeah. But they did it well. And the plot itself, the human conflict between being rascist and intolerant, only caring about what humanity's “need” and being humane, learning to accept other lifestyles, learning the importance of nature and all the rest that comes with it – that story probably will never grow old. Because humanity seems not to be able to learn the lesson beyond single incidents.

Does that mean that I liked the story? Yes. I did not love it, it has nothing that gives me goosebumps or anything. But it kept my interest during the whole time and I felt it – for the moment at least.

And no, obviously I did not think the movie was too long. It was long but it kept me engaged so it did something right, didn't it.

And the effects? Wow. Simply wow. I can imagine that it also is a wow when not watching it in 3D. But the planet, the jungle, the giant tree and the Na'vi. You hardly ever saw the CGI effects.
And 3D is always impressive – even though I am not sure what exactly I do think about 3D. I always need a while to get used to the effect. Maybe I am so used to movies that my brain tells me that movies do have to be 2D.
But it obviously is the future for movie theaters. Maybe 3D will be what makes people still go to the theater. I understand that.
As long as the effect doesn't kill quality story-telling I am more than okay with it. (Well, apart from the insane pricing: 3 Euro more for 3D – and you can't use your bonus free ticket that you earned by paying for ten movies before . . . yeah, according to my favorite movie theater the studios have forbidden them to let people cash in their free cards for all of the 3D stuff.)

Back to the movie. You can see that it is a James Cameron movie – by many details. You even get reminded of Aliens a few times. But hey, I love Aliens. And I adore Sigourney Weaver, so having her in there is really great.
But what is it with JC and blowing up the Mexican female soldiers – heroically that is, but still.

The soundtrack was done by James Horner – another typical composer to be used by James Cameron. And I lived James Horner for a while. I couldn't stop listening to Willow or Braveheart. But you know your Horner once, you always know him.
And still, this score is great and a score that I do need to get for my soundtrack rack.

In the end I give Avatar a score of 4 out of 5 points. Which makes it really good. There is just something little missing to make it into a 5 point movie. But that is always a personal thing. I just can tell you: watch it if you like action sci-fi. You will be well rewarded.

So, I wrote this yesterday. And then I stumbled over John Wick's blog again and he linked to a review about Avatar that took another - completely different - look at it. Well, at the plot.
And it's an interesting view. I am not agreeing - completely. But it made me think.

And not going into details and all, but in general I would say this:
Yes, a story where the other race is saved from the inside and not because a human becomes their saviour might be nice.

Avatar – The Last Airbender

Nope, sorry, not the post about James Cameron's Avatar - yet.

Ever since I first heard about M. Night Shyalaman's newest movie project I was wondering about the animated show Avatar – The Last Airbender (and yes, the Shyamalan movie is only called The Last Airbender so that it won't be confused with James Cameron's Avatar).
Thanks to a friend I was now able to watch the first two episodes – and I really like it. It has the typical anime stuff in it but the story so far seems really like one with a lot potential and I like the “magic system” - element bending.

So, maybe I will try to get my hands on the first season dvd box. And it would be nice to watch it before the Shyamalan movie is released.

She is really one of the nicest cats on the planet. And yet, I was just viciously attacked . . . well, she wanted to play. I did her the favour - I am well trained after spending two and a half days with my youngest (six months old) niece . . .

Now about those presents. Want to give me something? Buy me some rpg books. ;o)

I got DVDs:
CSI 6.1, 6.2, 7.2 (and 7.1. will be hard to get...), NCIS 1.2, Slumdog Millionaire (well, that was intended for my BigSis but now I got it and she will get another one), Dinner for One (har! :o).
I also got a black sleeve for my netbook - with a hard back for a bit of protection.
And other stuff...

Then I bought myself some more stuff online. Since I did not watch the fourth season of Supernatural yet and I did start with this series last year after christmas (with Lila in tow) I thought I would do me and her a favour and order the dvd box. Hasn't arrived yet.
Then cd-wow.net has Midwinter Graces by Tori Amos for almost nothing - and the limited edition at that! As well as the BSG soundtracks season 2 and 4 which are still missing from my collection.
And some books from bookdepository.co.uk are on their way too. Among them Mouse Guard Winter.

Yeah, that's about it.

I love Christmas. ;o)

Okay, and I got to see and play with my niece. And now I have a cat. At least for one and a half weeks.

Movie Marathon

My head hurts. And my butt. But I am happy.

I went to see Where the Wild Things are, The Princess and the Frog and Avatar - all today. More or less in a row.

Yes, a bit weird. But I felt like haven't been to the movies enough over the last few weeks. And I will not reach my goal of 52 movies this year anyway, but I still wanted to get close. I did.

I am now at 48 times. Only one movie twice. 'Only' 15 times on my own - every other time with the usual suspects (they know who they are). Four times to a sneak preview. Six movies at the Fantasy Filmfest, two more at the Fantasy Filmfest Nights. Five times 3D.

Last year it was 90 times - my record. But among those where 40 Fantasy Filmfest movies, that happens when you have the season ticket. Not so this year - not because I was not fast enough but because I decided not to do it. I now have decided to try it again next year.

Still, 48 times at the movies isn't bad, is it.

Oh, and yes, I liked all three movies today. The best of the bunch? Avatar.
Will I ever write something about it? I dunno. Will I ever write about my New Moon experience aka The Sparkling Disaster (TM)? I dunno. Someone want to read something like that?

No, really, I can't stop listening to it. Well, it stopped me from listening non-stop to Newton Faulkner's latest album. But I am not done listening to him either.

Well, well, well, never spent Friday after work on a shopping tour. You never get what you were looking for but other stuff instead.

Among them also: The Dragon Hunters Season 1. Yeah, I really liked the movie and I can't pass up the chance of getting a fantasy-themed series and one with floating islands at that (that's because I have been reading too much Swashbucklers of the 7 Skies).

Talking about books: I really should be reading Madame Bovary but other things were much more interesting. I will try now. Again. And I am ignoring Abercrombie's Last Argument of Kings for now. Which is a hard piece of work!

Uh, and no one told me before that Sarah Bettens has a new album. Or that Tori Amos has a christmas album out. Tsss.

I am going back to listening to The Gossip now. (Am I glad that no one can see me dancing through my apartment . . . erm, maybe I should not have mentioned that.)

Too much sparkling

I went to the Sneak Preview last friday night - and was bitterly disappointed.

It had to do with sparkling. Now guess which movie that was.

Not only was the movie bad. It also was disappointing that they showed that movie - it starts next week and there are a lot of regular customers of my favorite movie theatre that go to the Sneak and that get the tickets for some big movies (often genre movies) at least a week in advance. So the chances that people in the sneak would also have tickets for a regular showing next week weren't that small. And I am not the only one. Three seats to the right a man turned to the girls beside him and asked if they knew someone who wanted tickets for the opening next week . . . I had a similar urge.

Yes, I will try to get rid of my ticket. And no, I do not want to see the movie a second time, certainly not for the price of 8,50 Euro!

And you want to know why I was so disappointed with the sparkling? Well, I will hold back with that - I might get a bit harsh and that certainly will influence the opinion of readers that want to watch the movie anyway. So, I might rant later this week.

Last Friday I really wanted to buy me some Dominion. Unfortunately I was very late - the gamestore did not have it anymore and there was no more time to go to another one.
But it was enough time to get to a DVD store and diid some retail therapy: four DVDs for the price of three.
I bought: Dragon Hunters, Happy-Go-Lucky, Futurama - Bender's Game and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.

But that's not all. I also got my copy of the crown of geekdom: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It is only distributed through amazon - and nowadays even through the German site. Yeah!

I am hooked

Hooked on Castle - a funny crime tv show with Nathan Fillion in it. Others might know him still as Captain Hammer or as the Captain of the Serenity . . .

When I heard some time ago that he had his own show I was slightly interested. When I heard that it was about him being a crime fiction writer who works with the police to solve murders I was slightly more interested. When I heard it was funny I planned to check it out. When I finally read that he was wearing his former Firefly character's outfit in the Halloween episode I decided to give it a try. And yeah, I got hooked.

Trains and me

Not a love story.

I like traveling by train. I can think a lot and freely. And at the same time I get closer to my destination. Isn't that great?

But as much as I like it – there have been time and again moments when I really hated it. Like waiting eight hours for a train in Spain at a lonely train station – with neither a little Café nor anything left to read. Just to get to Madrid to wait ten more hours to catch the train home. At least that way I saw Madrid. But it took me two days to get home.
That was years ago but it still haunts me. ;o)

Two week s ago I got on a train to Cologne. I had just spent hours at work and I was tired. And as always, I fell asleep. Good thing. When I woke up I felt ready for some action – I got my Eee PC out and started writing. Still good.
Unfortunately that was the time when the delay began. We stood for quite a while somewhere in Germany and then we were more than 40 minutes late.

Still something I can live with. Hey, I had a lot of time to write.

But in front of me were two teenagers who were teenagers. Girls.

And behind me sat two business men – well, only one was directly behind me. He talked with his colleague over the gangway . . . and had his knees in my back. Apart from that – yes, I listened to my iPod but it didn't help much – he wasn't very well-versed in Outlook. Pfff.

Due to my mobile phone with which I held contact with my BigSis (they need to get me at the train station or otherwise it would be Nimea lost in Cologne) and the constant announcements (over the speaker right above me) I had to put my iPod away for a while.

Well, kind of an example of problems of luxury, isn't it?

Anyhow, there is something else that bugs me every time I go on a train trip. And yes, it happened to me the week before too when I went to the Book Fair: it freezes.
No matter what time of year – you can count to bring an extra sweater with you otherwise your rattling teeth will be heard through the whole train compartment. (Unless the air condition breaks down in the middle of the hottest summer ever and you feel like spending the trip back home in a sauna.)

And my seat at the window is almost always really a seat at the wall between the windows.
This time it must have been a practical joke – or maybe they programmed the software with which you do the reservations like that intentionally, just for fun. The train was mostly empty with only few reservations. In front of me and behind me – yes, exactly, there were you actually have a seat at a window – were no reservations at all! And I was not the only one. Some rows behind me it was the same.
Hello?!
I simply moved up a row. There! (Then I fell asleep and woke up when it was already dark outside.)

That's me and trains. What would I do without them?

Shaun of the Dead is still brilliant - and I think every one of my guests at least enjoyed watching it.

After that - as always - some had enough and head home and to bed. But a few tougher people ;o) stayed and we quickly reduced the rather big list of movies we could have watched next to two: Ravenous or The Descent. For a moment it looked like Ravenous but then we watched The Descent.

Which was kinda lucky for me since I haven't seen this movie before. And now I can say: Neil Marshall's movies are all to my liking so far!

But that's it for tonight. Sleep tight and don't let be bed bugs bite you.

Well, Halloween is right in front of us. And there will be the annual Halloween Video Night at my place.

I am going to show Shaun of the Dead and a second movie that is not yet determined. It might be Sweeney Todd, The Frighteners, Descent or something else. We will see what the guests will choose.

Well, thank you for the "Keep" function at Bloglines. And that's the only thing I have to say thanks for. Bloglines never bothered to answer my request for help - some of my subscriptions are not updating and that is really annoying.

... the last month sucked all energy out of me. ;o)

I haven't been up to much these last few weeks. Was tired a lot.

Last Thursday I was at the Frankfurt Book Fair - "business trip". By train, there and back again in one day. It was a good day. And I was half way happy to be allowed to leave again instead of spending all days (or just the weekend) working there and half way sad not to be part of the excitement and meeting old friends and acquaintances etc.

Well, I am going on a short trip next week to visit my BigSis. And my niece - I will be put on baby-sitter duty that's for sure. But for one day I will make a trip to Essen (my BigSis and her little family is living in Cologne) and visit the Spiel 2009.

What else?

Oh, I got myself the first season of How I met your Mother which I am currently watching. And I got the first season of Falcon Crest . . . ehm, yeah. Remembering youth.

This news about a casting for new tv show Stargate Universe makes me want to watch at least the last three episodes.

I liked the Stargate movie, never got into the tv show(s). Well, we will see.

And I do not have much energy left to make much of this second-to-last one. I am tired and my mind is occupied by Lost - we have been watching the third and fourth episode . . . I am glad we already plan to meet next week to see the next two eps.

[Day 28] First Day Back

Never overestimate your health. At home you might not feel any need to cough your lungs out, but going out into the big scary world might make you.

Or maybe it's just an allergic reaction to work.

Anyway, I am kinda feeling good but after a full day at work maybe a little more exhausted than usually. And I have a cough. We will see were it and I are going together. I seriously hope we will go seperate ways soon.

On a more happy note: tonight Burn Notice starts to be shown on German TV. I can only say: try it out. I liked it.

And tomorrow I will be back in the land of Lost.

[Day 27] TV season outlook and musings on seasons seen

The TV season is currently starting again. CSI is on again (as well as CSI:NY) – and Sara Sidle makes an appearance for some episodes. That's enough reason alone to watch it again.

Dollhouse is on again tonight. Uh-oh, I am excited. And can only cross my fingers that it will not die after this season.

NCIS is on again as well, as is NCIS Los Angeles. Another spin-off series I am not sure was needed. But it has Louise Lombard in it who mysteriously and sadly had disappeared from CSI.

What else? And importantly, what of all the stuff (Bones, House etc.) have I already seen? The Mentalist. Musings on that? I like it. Mostly because the main protagonist is always right (which is a bit annoying) but is seriously disturbed and far more mental than some might suspect.

What about new stuff? Being Human – haven't seen it yet. Neither Vampire Diaries. Well, that has to wait until I am in the mood. Mood is rather important.

Being Erica's second season started as well but I didn't have time to watch that yet. As has Heroes season 4 – but I just watched the second season on DVD, so it's not for me to watch yet.

So, talking about Heroes, what is my musing on various seasons I recently watched on DVD?
The second season of Heroeswas interesting but somehow not as fulfilling as the first one. It wasn't as dense, as intricately woven. That's sad somehow but I still liked it.
From here on spoilers for those that are as behind the storyline as I have been.
Btw I wondered why they just couldn't get more into Nikki. They killed her off because her story was told? Well, yeah, somehow but really I thought they could have done way more and better stuff with her.

Something else that I thought very fascinating is watching the alternate ending and the producers talking about what would have come if not for the Writer's Strike. They would have released the virus . . . and a lot of stuff would have happened very differently. So, if you own the DVD watch that stuff. And muse about whether or not the Strike did have a good effect or not.

Since being ill I could have watched a lot of stuff that I haven't seen yet (Rome, Terminator SCC, Veronica Mars 3) but I needed something familiar. Something I have seen before and could concentrate on – or not.

The solution: CSI. I watched the whole fourth season which has one of my absolute favourite episodes. That would be Butterflied in which a woman that very much looks like Sara Sidle is found dead and Grissom has to deal with that.

I am now in the fifth season. Actually, while writing this the first episode is on.

And I still ooh-so like it. :o)

Sadly I do only have the series on DVD up to the fifth season. One day I will get the rest.

Oh, maybe I will go on with Angel. I re-watched the first and second season and then other stuff got my mind off it. But I never watched the fifth season, shame on me. So I really should be watching on.

Or maybe I will have to watch Xena next. Harhar.

I am well on my way back to health. I will keep a low profile over the weekend so as to make sure the Evil Mother of Cold doesn't come back.

And you won't believe it: but today I was not called from work. And neither did I call them. Yeah!

Feeling a bit better and yet some more pain. Really feeling leached out. Especially after taking a trip to the supermarket . . . but it had to be done.

Looks like I am going to the doctor again tomorrow morning.

So far: I missed the movie on monday, am missing the Eric Fish concert tonight. I slept a lot and watched Heroes and CSI on DVD. Only little reading got done.

Well, not at work today. Went to the doctor. Not going to work tomorrow either. Not going to the concert tomorrow night. :o(

And my nose is swollen shut. Great.
